I saw a road-legal P1 GTR & Apollo driving together on my way to the 2016 Supercar Rally during the Chantilly Arts & Elégance concours. We were on the french highway with a friend heading to the event, then we stop at a toll booth, and imagine our surprise when we see what’s just in front of us. The P1 GTR and Apollo were riding together. The P1 GTR was black & orange. The shade of orange & livery somewhat reminded me of the “LARK P1 GTR”. The Gumpert Apollo was a black one (that makes it my 3rd Gumpert ever, not counting motor shows).
That’s the first time I actually see a road-legal McLaren P1 GTR driving on public roads. I know Lazante makes the road-legal process for the P1 GTR, but I had never actually seen it (except the full-carbon P1 LM at Goodwood, but that doesn’t *really* count, does it?).
Driving behind those two babies was quite something, I’ll have to admit. I’m used to supercars and all, but this was quite different. It’s a proper track-toy… but on the road. We were completely baffled and loved it. We followed them gently for a while without being too annoying (yeah, you can do that).
