Never in my life did I think I’d make an article about the NY Fashion Week, or any fashion week for that matter. But hey, here am I. But given my unexistant knowledge about fashion, you’ve guessed we would be talking about something I know *slightly* more about: cars.
In particular, Ralph Lauren’s cars. As you might know, the fashion mogul likes the finer things in life and he definitely likes four-wheeled machines. He actually owns one or two. And they’re cool enough that the american socialite organized an ultra-exclusive show on tuesday. There were only 300 hand-picked guests (including the likes of Diane Keaton, Jessica Chastain, Katie Holmes etc…), that were lucky to take part in a black-tie dinner, and more importantly, a fashion show that was centered around his very own personal car collection.
The whole venue was heavily broadcasted on Twitter, Instagram & snapchat stories. Actually, this is how I found out about it. Among the cars that were present, were some very modern things, like the holy trinity: yellow McLaren P1, silver Porsche 918 and black on black Ferrari LaFerrari. But if you ask me, the most important part of the show lies in the classics he showcased: one of the two 1938 Bugatti Type 57sc Atlantic coupe (his is black), a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, a 250 LM, 250 TR and 250 SW, a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder, Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing, and even a McLaren F1… talk about epic.
Ralph Lauren sure made this NY fashion week completely epic, if you ask me. Cars and fashion mix very well, and Chantilly Arts & Elegance completely understood that. He also has very good taste, despite some of his cars being very, dare I say it, “dull” as far as specs go. Especially on the modern cars (holy trinity for example). But hey, just my two cents, I think he knows what he’s doing.
