60 Minutes Lamborghini special (1987)
This is an incredible piece of CBS show 60 minutes about the famous italian company. This 60 Minutes Lamborghini special was filmed in 1987 and allows us to see in full detail and in-depth look at the Lamborghini factory: artisanship, old-school, and almost no robots (at the time at least). There are also quite a few interesting interviews of people from that golden era. It’s crazy to see how nothing has changed over the years: it’s still the kind of car that brings joy for anyone who watches it. I don’t know about you, but I learned a LOT of stuff from watching this small documentary, and I highly reccomend it.
Ferruccio Lamborghini’s story is well-known. In 1963, the successful businessman ran a tractor company, owned several nice cars BUT he was disappointed by his Ferrari cars and complained to “il commandatore”, Enzo Ferrari. The latter didn’t care much and basically told him to piss off, very. Luckily for us, Feruccio is a man with character, just like Enzo, which would change the course of automobile history. After this episode, as a “revenge” against Enzo and the way he was treated, he decided to build his OWN car company: Automobili Lamborghini. The rest is history.
Also, you will get to see a very young Valentino Balboni driving a red Lamborghini COUNTACH like there is no tomorrow, which is absolutely AWESOME. It’s nice to see the legendary test driver of Lamborghini young like that, such feels! Indeed, the company from Sant-Agatha doesn’t have a test track, so they take it out in the italian countryside. Pretty ballsy. What an awesome video! So much nostalgia & feels were brought up by merely watching it. The myth is still well alive!
