F1 back in France !
The news has been confirmed on monday December 5th, therefore, it’s official: Formula One is coming back in France in 2018. Believe it or not, that’s closer than you’d think, it only gives the actors concerned a very quick year to organize everything. Not trying to rush anyone or anything, just saying lol.
But first, let’s get a bit of history going. Formula One is an old sport, and has had quite a lovely history with France. I don’t think France has “historic F1 tracks” though (like Spa or Monza…). Most Grand Prix were held in Le Castellet, Dijon-Prenois or at the circuit de Magny-Cours. However, back in 2008, over ten years ago, the F1 bosses decided to stop coming to France due to a huge loss. But I’m not here to bore you with money talk and this and that: that’s not really what gets me going at this level of the game.
So F1 back in France in 2018, and until 2022 (4 year contract apparently). That sounds like a good news for all the F1 enthusiasts there (which to be honest, I don’t consider myself part of: I’m a casual watcher and don’t fully comprehend the sport as much as others). WHERE WILL IT HAPPEN? In the famous and very high-tech Circuit du Castellet (Paul Ricard HTTT) in the south of France. This is quite cool, because it’s a very good-looking track that drivers enjoy, and it’s close to home haha. That being said, I have to admit I don’t recall seeing a lot of “seating areas” for the public = this is something they’ll definitely need to work on.
We don’t know exactly WHEN it will happen though, the calendar for 2018 season isn’t up and running, but I’m sure they’ll find something really good to do! Promising and exciting times up ahead!
