New Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato
The new Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato will be officially showcased at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance, in Lake Como (Italy). This is not the first time Zagato teams up with Aston Martin to produce something quite uniqu and exquisite. The first time the pair released a car was with the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato (aka DB4 GTZ), back in the 60s. More than 50 years later, they do it again.
The official name of the car is the concept Zagato Vanquish. A slightly better engine gives 24hp more to the V12 engine, giving it a total of 600 bhp. As far as the interior goes, it’s still as luxurious as the Aston Martin Vanquish, with slight details that have changed. I’m not the biggest fan of the wheels, which I personnally think feel a bit empty, with a dichotomy of black & metallic finish. But they’re not ugly either, I just wouldn’t go for those.
This time they worked on the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato. I don’t know about you, but the general look of the car feels A LOT like their previous collaboration, the V12 Vantage Zagato. I can’t help but see a striking ressemblance. Sure, some of Zagato’s details & trademarks are bound to be found yet again (bumpy roof, the Z front grill, round-shaped tail-lights…). Call me silly, but I’m also seeing some DB10 & DB11 influence in there, but then again, who can blame me.
The real question I ask myself is… where will this concept car end up? The DB10 was only built for the James Bond movie, and one was eventually sold at auction. The V12 Vantage Zagato eventually became a production model with 250 units (in theory, I don’t think they have sold all models yet). I really hope we do see this one on the road as well! Though it will further harden the differenciation between some models, especially the Aston Martin family, I’m sure the diehard fans won’t mind.
