Meet the Ferrari 488 GTB Pioneer
The 2016 edition of the Tour Auto Optic 2000 has already ended, on saturday April 23rd, after 5 days of awesome driving for the participants, starting from Paris and finishing in Marseille. But before the rally started, Ferrari decided to make something which is, frankly, quite interesting though not unheard of. In association with its Parisian dealer Charles Pozzi (the historical Ferrari dealer in France), the brand from Maranello has built and unveiled to the world a one-off Tailor Made Ferrari as an hommage to a prancing horse from the past. Now now now, let me tell you more.
The Ferrari 488 GTB Pioneer is the name of this unique beast. This Ferrari 488 GTB was designed as a tribute to the Ferrari 308 GTB GR.IV Pioneer, driven by Jean-Claude ANDRUET, and two-times winner of the Tour de France Auto (old name of the “Tour Auto”), back in 1981 and 1982. Ferrari didn’t intend to sell the car to a client at first, but this one-off was bought by a friend of mine, who instantly fell in love with it. I mean, it is a unique, tailor-made prancing horse with a reference to history. You know what that means: hopefully, more from it to come! Too bad I didn’t get to see the car start-up or drive around!
The “Pioneer livery” is blue with white sponsor stickers, black side-view mirrors and golden wheels. The car’s bonnet has been signed by Jean-Claude ANDRUET and his co-pilot, which is a nice attention and definitely giving more value to the car! Ferrari actually did a very nice video of the car filmed in the city of Paris and at the dealership, video which was played during the monday night soirée at the Ferrari stand and that I thought to share with you because it really is cool!
