You all know it’s CarWeek time. Sadly, I couldn’t make it this year, but I’ve been living the event through social media, and I must say I wish I could be there, bringing you content. But enough about rants, today I’ll talk to you something very special, the 1995 McLaren F1.
As you might know, I attended the 25th anniversary rally in France a few months earlier. Back then, we already knew that we were surrounded by incredibly valuable cars. The legend of the F1 is something every car enthusiast is aware of, and its price has been increasing ever since its debut, slowly but very surely. But the thing is, there hasn’t been a McLaren F1 on the market for quite some time now. Owners seem to want to keep the cars, either as a (very good) investment or as a priced valuable possession and legit epic car to simply own. But CarWeek is Carweek, and a McLaren F1, chassis 044 has just been sold in auction by Bonhams.
Chassis 044 is a silver car that features the gold engine cover. I know for a fact that’s a nice little detail not every McLaren F1 has, and that is worth quite a lot to the keen enthusiast.
The price? 14,2 million USD on the hammer, which means 15,62 million $ selling price with buyer’s premium. That is absolutely INSANE. But, it’s nothing we didn’t know, in all fairness. We knew the McLaren F1 was on an upward curve, with prices rising as demand grows for the mythical car. The value keeps rising and rising. The McLaren F1 sets new record, without a doubt!
So… What do you think? Was it a good buy? A good deal? Do you think the McLaren F1 should be worth this much?
F1 sets new auction record, again!
