Lamborghini Miura 50th anniversary Tour
As with every big occasion, Lamborghini has organised a Miura 50th anniversary Tour in Italy. Indeed, 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic car, which was born in 1966 from the mind of Marcello Gandini. The italian car-maker usually does things the right way (remember Ferrucio’s 100th anniversary tour?), and this time it’s no different: they invited all the lucky owners of the Lamborghini Miura to participate in a small rally departing Bologna, right next to home (Sant’Agatha Bolognese). The tour will end tomorrow (sunday june 12th) somewhere in Florence (Italy). They had a bunch of pretty cool stops & unforgettable moments by the italian country side.
With only 764 units of the Lamborghini Miura built, it is without a doubt a rare masterpiece. Considered by a lot of people as the first *real* supercar of its generation, the Lamborghini Miura has fueled dreams & passion for 50 years now. And as the price of this italian jewel prices keep going up, it is getting harder and harder to see them on the roads as well – which is why this Miura 50th anniversary Tour is a lovely spectacle. A sight to behold, no doubt!
I have been lucky enough to have seen quite a few Miura here and there throughout my peregrinations. I never actually counted, but it’s definitely more than 10 different ones, in all sorts of configuration (P400, Miura SV, etc etc). After missing the unforgettable Lamborghini “Gran Giro” a few years ago, I still miss this one as well. But hey, you can’t be everywhere all the time now, can you??
