LaFerrari spider confirmed by Sergio Marchionne
While there has been a lot of talks and debates about the possibility of a Ferrari LaFerrari spider, I never had my doubts on it being a reality and coming very soon. Ever since those pictures of a wooden box with a Ferrari key “leaked” online, rumoured to be sort of an “invitation” sent to potential buyers. The Ferrari LaFerrari is now the flagship of the italian brand, but will it have to share its throne from now on?
Indeed, Fiat Chrysler CEO, Sergio MARCHIONNE, was officially named Ferrari’s new CEO on May 2nd 2016 (replacing the former CEO Amedeo Felisa, who is “retiring”). The new boss, who has been with Ferrari for quite some time now, has confirmed that the LaFerrari spider is not a secret, and it’s coming. He also added that the spider version was the only other model based on the LaFerrari that Ferrari was expecting to build. As for my opinion, I really and sincerely hope it stays that way too. Mainly because that would sort of take away the exclusivity and charm of the “Ferrari supercar” that has been created since the Ferrari 288 GTO. There shouldn’t be countless declinations of the LaFerrari.
Marchionne also gave more information here and there, mainly on the new Dino V-6 which is rumoured for quite some time, though according to Marchionne, the brand hasn’t figured out all the details for this one yet.
So I guess the Ferrari LaFerrari confirmed by Marchionne is actually a nice officialisation of the whole project, if you really needed the confirmation. Now the only thing we need to know is how many will be built (different sources vary, from 100 to 200…) and what it will look like exactly (so many different digital renderings online about that lol). But hey, that’s definitely a different story for another time! Still too soon to discuss about those. La Ferrari spider confirmed, though!
