The AM RB001 breaks the internet !
Aston Martin Lagonda is LIVE on their Facebook page from the Aston Martin heardquarters in GAYDON as I’m writing this, to reveal their new hypercar in collaboration with Red Bull Racing: the AM RB001 breaks the internet! The Aston Martin / Red Bull relationship takes a whole new step.
By the way, just so you’re wondering. It’s not the final name of the car. Though I don’t see nothing particularily wrong, it does feel very industrial, AM-RB001 sounds weird (but then again, DB9, DB10, DB11…? lol). There is a proper name coming (“Vulcan” sounded pretty awesome, that’s for sure).
According to Aston Martin, it’s basically a track car for the road. So YES, it’s going to be a road-legal car. This is the final concept design, there might be a few slight changes to expect (nothing we could really tell anyways), but all in all, everything is pretty much finalized. At the moment, they’re working with legal & authorities to make it road-legal. “What you see is what you get”.
How much? Between 2-3 million pounds (£2-3M). That’s broad, but they’ll see, depending on the options on the car.
Another question that was asked is, how many will be built? According to Aston Martin, somewhere around 99-150, but no more than 150 units. They already have 370 firm requests, so it’s going to be a tough battle! GAYDON is the center of sportscar production yet again! Purity of the Aston Martin with the savoir-faire of Red Bull racing. Inspired by LMP1 race cars and obviously Formula One. The main focus was to achieve extreme performance with comfort. It has a naturally aspirated V12 engine putting out a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio apparently (which is very impressive & similar to the Koenigsegg One:1 !!).
Now to the final question: WHEN?
First deliveries are to be expected early 2019. This is how the AM RB001 breaks the internet!
